This site was first started in 1996 after the loss of our son Jason Lee. He was 3 years 5 months 8 days old at his passing. We found out he had a Diaphragmatic Hernia during an ultrasound toward the end of my pregnancy. I was scheduled to be induced in order to have the surgeon on staff ready to go. Jason did well with his surgery and was a strong, determined little boy. He stayed in the hospital for 9 days and then went home. We can say with certainty, Jason was a fearless, strong, loving, full of life little boy up to the very end. His passing was a complete shock to everyone and came within 36 hours of him becoming ill. He developed scar adhesion’s that herniated his stomach and poisoned him. We unfortunately we never warned of this although we were full of questions through his life. Always told we had nothing to worry about. He could grow up to be a linebacker and never have to worry about his surgery. That obviously was untrue and sadly resulted in his death.
BereavedParents.com was our way of coping with our grief in hopes of also helping others. To help other parents know that they can follow their hearts even when a doctor tells you otherwise. We don’t want this to happen to another parent. We have received emails from other parents thanking us for this warning because it saved their child. We’d like to say thank you for writing us because it warms are heart to know that we are helping in some way.
